My name is Kolten, you can call me KoCo

How all of this started…
I first started making props in about 2010 at fifteen years old. I tried to make my own P.K.E. meter from “Ghostbusters” out of a lint brush. It had articulated wings actuated by a pull string, and a single LED in the screen. Looking back, it was clearly rudimentary, but at the time, it was the most complex thing I had made and represented a huge milestone. This $1 lint brush opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me.

From there, I ended up wanting to continue to make props, especially from Ghostbusters. I eventually joined a group called The Ghostbusters of Salt Lake, a charity-cosplay group that I would go on to manage for several years.
Joining that group introduced me to dozens of decorated and passionate fabricators from across the world, and offered me many opportunities for growth. Suddenly, I had access to a huge knowledge base, and I sucked it all up, studying techniques and props for hours on end.
This period between 2010 and 2016 is truly the foundation of my building endeavors. The major builds from this time are in the Gallery section, so instead of going into particulars here, I’ll leave you with a family photo:

The period after The Ghostbusters of Salt Lake, from 2017 to present, has been a period of honing my techniques, and broadening my inspirations. For the past four years, I’ve worked as the lead fabricator at a sign shop and have been using that position to push my abilities as often as possible with the goal of making bigger and better props.
On top of the carving, sculpting, casting, painting, and other traditional techniques I developed previously, I’m now proficient in CNC processes including routing, laser cutting, and a bit of 3D modeling and printing. In addition, I am now familiar with the demands that come with managing a moderate-sized production environment and team.

So why make this website now?
For years I’ve made build threads and tutorials, published blueprints, and posted completed works in various places across the internet. This site will serve as a hub for everything I publish and will make it easier to share my work with more people when my interests wander between subjects and mediums.
I hope you enjoy it!
